Aims & Values

Our Mission

Christians challenging homophobia: championing freedom, faith and sex-based rights.

Our Aims

  • Inform churches and other Christian organisations on specifically LGB issues – through resources, advocacy, and networking
  • Campaign and educate, with others, on the rights, needs and contributions of LGB Christians and our friends – through seminars, lobbying, debate and dialogue
  • Assist those suffering from discrimination, harassment or stigma on account of their sexual orientation or beliefs about sex, through networks of legal, social and spiritual support
  • Provide a safe space for reflection on what it means to be gay, lesbian or bisexual and Christian – through social gatherings, prayer, retreats, publications and conferences

Our Values

In our work, we value:

  • Respectful communication and generous collaboration, across political parties and churches.
  • Individual freedom of belief and expression, thinking freshly through moral complexities, with good disagreement.
  • The scientific reality of biological sex, supported by evidence and clear language.
Good theology and responsible interpretation, embracing same-sex desire and relationships as part of God’s creation.
  • Attentive listening, nurturing dialogue, however problematic.

Statement of Conviction

It is the conviction of LGB Christians that human sexuality in all its richness is a gift of God, gladly to be accepted, enjoyed and honoured as a way of both expressing and growing in love, in accordance with the life and teaching of Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is our conviction that it is entirely compatible with the Christian faith not only to love another person of the same or opposite sex, but also to express that love fully in a personal, sexual relationship.
